The Big Picture –
By Glynn Wilson

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Why is the New York Times still running political advice from James Carville?

In another inane column for July 21, Carville’s advice again is for Democrats to remain on the sidelines on the Epstein story and everything else and wait around for Trump to sink himself. His sole plan for the midterms is to call for “repealing” Trump’s big ugly bill.

Once again, like the last few guest essays he’s penned, his advice is dumb, wrong and boring.

Democrats need to be out there now all over social media explaining to the American people why they should retake the House and Senate in 2026 so they can impeach Trump again, and this time convict him in the Senate and remove him from office for good. Trump’s corruption knows no bounds.

It’s not just the one bill. Cite everything he has done to destroy our democracy and dismantle our government, from hiring Elon Musk and turning DOGE loose on every federal agency to turning ICE loose on American cities and deporting actual citizens to prisons in foreign countries.

His dumb trade war is already making inflation go up even more, and he’s turning every civilized democracy in the world against the United States of America. The only allies he seems to want are Russia and North Korea, and some days he seems to have doubts about that. He’s a one man wrecking ball creating chaos and confusion and fear everywhere you look.

He must be stopped. And it won’t happen by Democratic candidates playing it safe and talking about “kitchen table issues” like the Senator from Alabama, Katie Britt. That won’t even get news coverage on CBS anymore, as Paramount dismantles that network.

As an academic and journalistic expert on media effects on public opinion, I’m telling you Democrats must stop boring people to death and start getting them excited that someone, finally, is going to champion the causes and issues people believe in.

All you have to do is check out one of Bernie Sanders’ stump speeches. He had the left wing of the Democratic Party and the working class on his side in 2016, the only candidate polling above 50 percent. So personally he would not have made a great president. His message in the right hands could win, if pols like Carville would get out of the way.
