CATOCTIN MOUNTAIN, Md. — It’s Friday morning in the campground, the beginning of Memorial Day weekend, and I’ve taken my Nexium for acid reflux and I’m eating my daily banana with Jif creamy peanut butter for breakfast, trying not to get peanut butter on the keyboard.

You can laugh now. Especially if you’ve had your vaccine shots.

The radio commentators on NPR are droning on over the iPhone app coming through the Bluetooth speakers about all the routine news of the world, while I break down the 12 X 12 canopy and pack up the media camper van to get ready to roll back into the city for the next few days.

When you live out here in Nomadland, you have to plan every move carefully. Us mobile RV travelers must keep a close eye on the weather app, and know when severe weather is in the forecast. There’s no underground basement to escape to out here if a tornado pops up in the area.

The forecast calls for rain and thunderstorms this afternoon, and let’s face it, it’s a bitch to have to pack up outdoor gear in the rain. I woke up early this morning anyway, around 6 a.m., not because I had to but because of troubling dreams and a creeping feeling of foreboding.

While there is much good news to celebrate with the CDC, states and communities lifting mask mandates and other social distancing rules now that many Americans are getting vaccinated against COVID, and the new administration in Washington is making most of the right moves on science and the economy, former President Donald Trump and many in his army of insurrectionists are still at large.

The news is full of nauseating stories about his continued outsized influence on other Republican politicians, and the Republicans in the United States House and Senate are still taking his lying side in many national debates. They are on the verge of killing a plan to form an independent commission to investigate the 1-6-21 Capitol insurrection. We don’t need a “bipartisan” commission. We need an independent commission.

It’s obvious they are doing this not because they really agree with every false thing the Rat King says. It’s because they fear retribution from him and his still loyal ratfucking followers if they dare to publicly disagree.

Look what happened to former Arizona Senator Jeff Flake, and Wyoming Congresswoman Liz Cheney.

Perhaps the most promising news out this week is that Manhattan’s district attorney has convened a grand jury to consider whether to indict Trump and/or other executives at his company. According to anonymous sources who talked to The Washington Post — grand jury proceedings are secret after all — the panel will sit three days a week for six months.

“The move indicates that District Attorney Cyrus R. Vance Jr.’s investigation of the former president and his business has reached an advanced stage after more than two years,” The Post reports. “It suggests, too, that Vance thinks he has found evidence of a crime — if not by Trump, by someone potentially close to him or by his company.”

At this state of the game it is a bit of a mystery why the press and media in this country continue to feel like they have to beat around the bush about Trump’s obvious crimes. Any unbiased person who has been paying attention for the past five years knows that Trump’s entire tenure in the White House resembled a criminal enterprise. We have documented his crimes in great detail on this news website over and over again for the past four years, so I feel no compunction to repeat them all again here. They are all there in our archives, fully searchable by search engines.

Our readers and fans on Facebook know what his crimes are, and we are all still waiting on the prosecutor who can bring charges and make an arrest and make them stick.

Social media is full of memes that tell the story. When is the mainstream media going to put it all together? The point is we will never get past this era of fake news, disinformation and propaganda when truth has no meaning until Trump is made to pay for this crimes publicly. He must go down, and go down hard.

Yes, it’s true that we’ve never put a former president on trial and in prison before in this country. But if ever there was a case and a time to start, this is clearly it.

Now I’ve got to finish packing up to head for the city, so that will have to be all for today. If you agree, let us know in the comments, and let your friends know on social media.

We are never going to get past this by living in fear. It’s time on this Memorial Day weekend to show courage, and take a stand. Otherwise the Trump trolls win.
