Back in 2003, when I was telling the New York Times national desk that the invasion of Iraq was a bad plan based on a neo-con think tank study (which they ignored), Chris Hedges was run off from the Times for trying to tell the truth about Iraq — based on his actual reporting on the ground in the Mid-East.
Times management listened to Judi Miller instead of this guy.
He recently gave this talk in Canada telling the story. This is important for people to understand.
Take an hour and a half to listen and watch.
He writes a column available at Truthdig.
Hedges is right about a lot of things, but we diverge when he bashes the Web (inaccurately calling it “the Internet”) and promoting print. Print is dead. Long live the Web Press.
